U13A Girls - SWRSL League Champions

Congratulations to the Waterloo United 1 Girls U13 team who have finished the season undefeated and have captured the top spot, winning the girls L5 division, and seeking promotion to the L3 division next season. The team had a league record of 13 Wins, 3 Ties and 0 losses for 42 points.
Their coach writes:
This team has worked tirelessly throughout the season training cardio and practicing. This hard work has paid off and the girls should be very proud of this record and the hard work both they and their parents invested into the season. This team was strong in all field positions this year. Our strong Defense, Midfielders, Forwards and our Keeper all contributed to the amazing and outstanding stats and the final win result, Congratulations to the girls.
I hope that in the future, there will be memories to smile over, friendships to cherish, and a warm spot in your heart for your team mates.
U10 Boys Select/Tournament Team - Unionville-Milliken All-Star Champions

After a very successful first summer, the U10 Boys Select Team won the Unionville-Milliken All-Star Select Tournament this past weekend (Aug.25-26). The team faced some tremendous competition over the two days, including a dramatic semi-final game against the Brampton Blast which went into Penalty Kicks after a 1-1 draw. In the Final, the boys came out very hard and finished 7-0 against a Club Roma Orange team that had beaten the strong Brampton side in pool play.

U10B Girls - Stratford Tournament Champions

Congratulations to the Waterloo United U10B Girls team who went to the Stratford Soccer Tournament on August 18th and 19th and came away with the Championship. On the first day the girls secured their semi-final spot with a 1st in round robin play, having a 2-1 loss against London United, a 3-2 win against The German Canadian Club and a win against the Guelph Royals 7-0. The semi-finals were on Sunday morning, we faced the home team of Stratford and came away with a 4-0 win. The finals saw us facing the London United team again, the girls played with an immense amount of heart and won a tough fought battle 3-2. The coaches Simon and Bronwen, along with the parents were all very proud of the girls with their game-play, attitude and respect they showed on and off the field. WAY TO GO UNITED!!!
U15B Girls - Woolwich Invitational Champions
The Waterloo United Girls U15B team were crowned the 2012 Woolwich Invitational Champions August 12, 2012. They went undefeated scoring 5 and only allowing one goal. All games were nail-biters including a semi-final shootout win and a very late goal in the championship game (similar to team Canada)!! Congrats ladies!!!

U11C Girls Grimsby Ontario 200 Tournament Finalists

The Waterloo U11C Girls travelled to Grimsby July 21/22. The girls opened with impressive wins over Niagara 3-0, and Pelham 6-1 before losing their final round robin game on Saturday to Welland 1-0.
They met the Welland team, undefeated in both league and tournament play, again in the finals on Sunday. In a tough back and forth final they came out on the short end of a 3-2 result. The girls showed great grit and determination through out the tournament. A great tournament result! Congratulations Team!
U12A Girls Burlington Champions

The Waterloo United U12A girls have returned from Burlington the July 14,15 weekend as Champions.
The team played in extensive heat on Saturday, but won all three games against some tough Toronto competition. 1-0, 5-0, 2-0 resulted in 10.5 points and a solid 1st place in the tournament round. Advancing to the semis a 1-0 win against host Burlington, set the team up for a rematch against Newmarket Sunday afternoon. Playing with determination of true athletes, the girls won the game 1-0 to claim the championship. Five shut out games with incredible defending and goalkeeping!

U10B Girls Walter Kirchner Champions

The United U10B Girls team went to the Walter Kirchner Tournament (Woodstock) on July 16th and 17th. On the first day they secured their spot in the quarter finals for the following day, with a tied game against St Thomas A team 2-2 and a win against Georgetown 4-0. The quarter-finals were on Sunday morning, here they again faced the St Thomas A team and United won 4-0 advancing them to the semi-final match. The semi-final was against Woodstock, this was a hard-fought game but United won 3-2. The finals followed shortly after against Chatham and United won 3-1. The coaches Simon and Bronwen, along with the parents were all very proud of the girls with their game-play, attitude and respect they showed on and off the field. WAY TO GO UNITED!!!
U10A Girls CUSC Invitational Champions

The United U10A Girls had a very exciting tournament over the weekend of June 9th and 10th winning the Collingwood United Invitational Tournament with a 2-1 victory in the Championship over the Oshawa Kicks Renegades. The girls defeated Oshawa Kicks Predators 4-0, and tied the Burlington Bayhawks 1-1 to emerge from Saturday pool play. Sunday morning the United ignored the challenges of the high heat and humidity dispatching host Collingwood 7-0 in quarter finals and Mooredale Lightening 2-0 in the semi finals.
The United played with a great deal of heart and character and the successful weekend was the result of a very solid team effort. The coaches and parents are very proud of the girl’s great play and their fantastic result!
U15B Girls - Ottawa Icebreakers Champions

The girl's Waterloo United U15B team went undefeated and captured Gold at the Ottawa International Icebreakers Soccer Tournament (May 25-27). In the round robin, Waterloo United U15B defeated Lanark United B 1-0, followed by a shootout win (0-0) against Ottawa Royals B, and claimed 1st place in their pool with a 1-0 win over Ottawa South United B. In the playoff round Waterloo won an impressive 2-0 win against Quinte West B. The quarter finals was a rematch of the shootout round robin game against Ottawa Royals B team, and again, Waterloo came out with the shootout win (0-0). In the semi-finals, Waterloo played their best game of the tournament against Ottawa Royals A team with a comeback 2-1 victory (This was the first - and only - goal that Waterloo's keeper, Ashley Forler, let in all tournament)! In the Gold medal game, it was a very tough battle against the Cumberland Cobras A team, with each team having excellent scoring chances and excellent defence. A Waterloo free kick goal stood up as the winner for a 1-0 championship score! Congratulations to the girl's for an awesome weekend! Way to go U15B Girls!
U11B Boys Barrie Spiritfest Finalists

Congratulations to the Waterloo United Boys U11 B team for a thrilling runner-up finish at the 9th Annual Subway Spiritfest Tournament, June 1-3. The boys quickly adjusted to the smaller field and 9v9 play posting a combined 15-0 score in sweeping their 3 preliminary round games. The semi-final against the host Barrie Spirit A team was a hard-fought physical game. Although our starting keeper was injured in the first half, our backup made several difficult saves and Waterloo United prevailed 2-0. In the gold medal game, the boys fell behind St. Catharines Roma Wolves early, but took control at the end of the first half and tied the score. A Roma Wolves match-winning goal with 2 minutes to play in the second half was the only blemish on a closely contested battle and an otherwise fantastic weekend in Barrie. Way to go U11B Boys!
U16A Boys Middlesex Invitational Finalists

The U16A boys played a round robin of three games, letting in only one goal and scoring 6. Their record of one win and two ties was enough to place the team in first place after the round robin part of the tournament. The final game against Middlesex ended with a 1-1 tie after regulation time - forcing a penalty shoot out. The shoot out battle was close but Middlesex came out out with the victory. For the boys this was a great results with a newly formed team and coaching staff this year!
U14A Girls WOYSL Kick off Cup Champions

The United U14A girls competed in the WOYSL Kick Off Cup on a very hot May 19/20 weekend. Despite the heat and several player injuries the girls went undefeated through 5 games with 8 goals for and only one against. The team went on to take the championship title by winning 3-2 on penalties against Sarnia . Coaches Enda Dunne and Rob Grein, along with the parents are very proud of the girls! CONGRATULATIONS!!
U10A and U10B Boys – 2012 West Niagara Invitational Champions

The Waterloo United U10A Boys are the 2012 West Niagara Invitational Champions after beating Vaughan A in the finals. Playing in the Elite Division, the team emerged as champions after going undefeated and only conceding 2 goals during the tournament. After defeating some strong teams from Islington, Grimsby, St. Catharines and Toronto, United faced the highly touted Vaughan Azzurri Blues who in 26+ tournaments had never lost. Despite outplaying their opponent United were tied 1-1 at half. In the second half, United were holding on until they scored on the very last play of the game earning the 2-1 victory and the championship! Coaches Stuart Mackie, Joe Coppolino and Jamie Brackpool were extremely proud of their players for their team play and hard work and especially for representing the WMSC with dignity and sportsmanship.
The Waterloo United U10B Boys were successful in capturing the West Niagara Tournament Premier Division Championship May 13, 14. The team went a perfect 6 wins -0 losses. Scoring 29 goals and allowing 6 against. They opened with wins over Collingwood, Erin Mills and Pickering. Advancing to day 2 they opened up with a win over SC Toronto and then Oakridge to advance them to the Final vs the host team from Lincoln and won the final 3-0!!! It was a complete team effort and a Great Start to the season!!! Congratulations Coaches Gil and Melanie Jimenez and boys!!!!!

U17A Boys - Provincial Indoor Soccer League Champions

On May 13th, the U17A Boys, Head Coach Steve Bacso, emerged Champions at the U18 Provincial Indoor Soccer League Finals.
The team played the final outdoors at the BMO Stadium in Toronto, against Brampton winning 1-0.
United U15A Girls Nike Challenge Cup Finalists

The United U15A Girls travelled to the Nike Challenge Cup in Dublin,
Ohio the weekend of April 21/22 competing in the top division and
finishing as Finalists. The team - and parents - braved very cold, wet
and windy weather. The team was undefeated through to the finals where
they were unlucky to lose 1-0. Congratulations to Peter Mackie and his
team for a great showing at their first tournament of the season.
U12A Girls - Frank Sobil Tournament Champions

Congratulations to Waterloo United Under 12A Girls for winning the
Premier Division of the Frank Sobil Tournament on the May 5,6 weekend.
Fresh off winning their LDYSL indoor season ending cup only a few weeks
earlier, the girls were ready to take on the all the exterior elements
mother nature could deliver. Sporting the club's new rain jackets, the
weekend was drenched in sun making for some beautiful soccer in our
brand new gold uniforms. Word quickly emerged to watch the gold team.
With two wins and a draw winning the tournament round, the Waterloo
United entered the semi finals with 2 shutouts and only one goal
against. Battling teams from Toronto High Park, Nepean, Toronto
Nitro’s, and Bellville, Waterloo advanced convincingly out of the semi
final cross over, for an exciting rematch against High Park in the
final. Waterloo emerged 1-0 in the final and became tournament
champions.
Congratulations to all the girls for their team play, and coaches Paul
Wallace, Sara Stairs, Eric Obermayer. What a great way to start the
season.
