Mandate: Representation of WMSC to its governing bodies, leagues of play, and clubs and organized bodies within the sport.
Member duties: Members of the committee are assigned a liaison role to a specific league, governing body, or organization. The liaison will gather information on behalf of the club and ensure a timely dissemination of information to the affected programs and members within the club. The liaison participates in both the mandated and auxiliary activities of the league, governing body, or organization, representing the club in meetings and articulates the club’s interests and needs. Liaisons may be required to perform additional tasks within the role as defined by the league or organization.
Committee meetings: The committee will formally meet twice per year in February and September. These meetings review the club’s priorities, needs, and policies for external liaisons and the extent of committee involvement. A draft document incorporating the recommendations of the committee and identification of client groups within the club is submitted to the WMSC board after the February meeting for review and approval. Full minutes of the biannual meetings and special meetings will be provided to the club executive director.
Communication protocol: The committee will identify the affected programs, committees, and individuals within the club pertaining to each league, governing body, or sport organization. Liaisons inform the requisite parties as required by email, ensuring that the following are always copied:
-
The board liaison for the committee
-
Club president
-
Executive Director
-
Programs staff
Information on governing bodies, leagues, and sport organizations within the sport should be provided to the Communications committee for posting on the club web site and updated in a timely fashion as required.
